Heaven knows Lingard's miserable now
I was glad to see Forest back up in the Premier League, so take no pleasure in seeing them where they are. But what has happened to Lingard? Obviously a talented player, but I think he might be a bit of a div. Fair enough he didn't want to come to West Ham but he had other options. This move to Forest has been a catastrophe of his own making.

“Jesse Lingard....very enjoyable what he did for West Ham over about a 10 game period, but I'm delighted he never darkened our door again.”

Racist

I agree.

Worst thing about this is it was so utterly utterly predictable and likely, and yet Moyes wanted to whore us out to this cretin of a footballer, relentlessly courting him like a lovesick teenager...which from our perspective all says far more about Moyes' ability to judge a situation than Lingard who was barely interested in playing as was there for all to see.

Thank fuck the Forest chairman (also seemingly something of a cretin) decided to add him to his footballer collection vanity project and outbid us.

Re: Heaven knows Lingard's miserable now
Lingard has made his money, got his contract, will see it out and probably fuck off to America where he can work on his tiktok videos, with his stupid dancing etc

He is now a tiktok 'star' playing football
Glad we didn't sign him

64 posts on a thread about some chump who rejected us for a relegation fodder club. Some of you lot seem as obsessed about this cunt as Moyes.

Re: Heaven knows Lingard's miserable now
I doubt he's miserable in the least

He's on an extremely lucrative contract for someone of his age and really doesn't have to make much effort to get in the team

He blew his chances of playing International football the moment he went back to ManU after his purple patch loan to us and certainly wouldn't get anywhere near the England squad on current form, nor is he likely to do so at any time in the future

Good for the club not giving him a ridiculous contract just on the strength of a handful of good games he played for us, at a time when he was motivated to earn a new contract with ManU

Glad he got himself a big contract but even more glad it wasn't with us

I just hope we don't ever start boringly getting linked with him again as his footballing career continues to nosedive

Re: Heaven knows Lingard's miserable now
His best attribute was his striking of the ball it's just a shame he had to be motivated to get into the positions to show it rather than just know to get in the spot to have a pop.....Scamacca looks like he has both those attributes which is promising.....

Re: Heaven knows Lingard's miserable now
Lingard ran half the length of Molyneux with the ball, chased by about 5 Wolves players, and put it in the net with ease.

He was comfortably our best player

Shame what’s happened since then, it’s gone all Payet. Always had a doubt that he could maintain the level he had when he had a point to prove.

Whenever I see Lingard he reminds me of Eric from the Starlight Rooms on OFAH...Trevor Byfield (was in last night's Minder on ITV4 as well)

"We had a barbeque at Moyes's house and were just talking but his whole team revolves around Lingard. He's got Plan A and Plan B - Plan A is I'll have Lingard there, Antonio there, Bowen there, Rice, Soucek ... he said 'if that stays fit, it's Champions League!'. That is a team that he believes, if it stays fit will push on, so his whole team has been built round Lingard."

Lingard is an unprofessional footballer. I am glad we didn't sign him.

Re: Heaven knows Lingard's miserable now
stewie griffin has got it right. The facts speak for themselves and Lingard just can't be arsed. Talent is nothing without application and motivation.

His years at Man Utd showed him as a 1 goal every 7.5 games at a time when Man Utd were at the top. He's gone downhill since then and I am sure he was avoiding the ball in the game the other night. I bet he had the least touches and that is not a sign of a good player.

I'm glad he went to Forest...

Re: Heaven knows Lingard's miserable now
His 'relegation release clause' is that its a 1 year contract.
Forest fans insisting he signed for £80k a week (ie less than our offer) .... forgetting he also got £6m to sign on.
Add that up & its £10m .... £200k a week
Nice work if you can get it

Said before that Paqueta was definitely the replacement for Mr Tik Tok

Re: Heaven knows Lingard's miserable now
Guy's got to make what he (not you) feels is a decent living in his profession and so is always going to make choices not everybody agrees with - or, more likely, can work out why he's done what he's done.

There was talk about him wanting to remain close to his daughter/family wo are settled - I can relate to that as my daily commute between Poole & Holborn in the final years of my marriage meant I left before the kids woke and they were tucked up in bed by the time I got home; only time to bond with them was the weekend, which I really needed to simply rest & recover from the week just gone.

Did we dodge a dud - seems almost certain that we did; I think his true colours started to show through once he'd proved whatever point he had to make while with us.

No doubt he was "promised" more game time back at his boyhood club, but they simply dicked him about, probably leaving him totally disillusioned with modern football.

He is not miserable , he has a relegation release clause , another big pay out next season probably from another promoted club , it’s why he signed for them

More likely we skip Paqueta

I think the message eventually, after a few windows, got through that we needed an actual striker.
